Welcome to Left Brain Blogging, the blog that delivers tips, tools and strategies for successful blogging.
Hi, I'm Paul Cunningham. I'm an author, trainer, and online marketer. And of course, I'm a blogger like you. I founded Practical 365, a blog that helps millions of visitors each year solve complex, technical problems that they face on a daily basis in their jobs in the IT industry.
I started blogging in 2006 as a way to share my experiences with fellow IT professionals, and to improve my job prospects in the competitive and ever changing IT industry. Pretty soon I was getting tens of thousands of visitors a month, and was able to earn a side income from my blog, including the launch of my first product in 2011, which was a self-published eBook.

In 2015, having grown my blog to more than 7 million visitors a year, I quit my full time job and focused entirely on my blog and my business. Eventually I sold Practical 365 to focus on new business ventures. Today I earn a living running my blogs, writing and selling eBooks, and creating online training courses.
In 2017 I was at the Problogger Event in Melbourne (an event I've been attending since the very first one). I was speaking to other bloggers about my desire to give back to the blogging community by helping bloggers, especially beginner bloggers, get through the challenges involved in building successful blogs. Every day I see bloggers struggling with issues like which platform to use, how to setup the right plugins, integrate their email marketing system, and much much more.
And after brainstorming names with other people at the Problogger mastermind dinner, the idea for Left Brain Blogging was born.
Why “Left Brain Blogging”?
There's a popular theory that people are either right brain dominant, or they are left brain dominant. The right side of the brain is associated with creativity, imagination, and artistic abilities. The left side of the brain is associated with logic, structure, and analytical thinking.
While that theory may not be strictly true in the medical sense, we generally accept that people tend to lean one way or the other.
Now, I'm not one of those bloggers who writes a lot of inspiring posts that inspire you and light a fire of passion within your heart. I have great admiration for those “right brain” bloggers, and I read some of them on a regular basis. But that's just not my strength.
Instead, I help bloggers with the “left brain” stuff that they're stuck on, by turning the complex into the simple, and by providing clear guidance that lets you confidently implement strategies that get you real, measurable results.
If that sounds helpful to you, then I'm glad to have you here.
